The Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon takes place in the heart of the Willamette Valley (Yamhill County), 30 miles south of downtown Portland. The race is staged on Sunday but activities are planned in Portland starting on Thursday evening with an early packet pickup option and wine reception.
While the region is easily serviced by Portland to the north and Salem to the south, the towns of Newberg, McMinnville, Dundee, Carlton and Yamhill surround the heart of this valley where the course and weekend activities will be centered. There are various hotel and motel options in the larger towns of McMinnville and Newberg, and many small lodging properties and B&Bs in the valley.
Portland's International airport (PDX) is serviced by most carriers and Portland is a fabulous city to explore. We list some recommended hotel partners on our Host Hotels page. Early September is an ideal time to explore all the treasures of the Willamette Valley and Oregon's cities.
